Director

Koh Young Hun


Prof. Koh graduated from the Malay-Indonesian Department and Graduate School of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). He obtained his Ph.D. in the study of literary thought in a recent novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, world-renowned novelist from Indonesia, in 1994. His MA is on modern Malay drama in 1990. Both of his degrees were from University of Malaya.

Prof. Koh is professor Emeritus of the Department of Malay-Indonesian Studies at HUFS and previously served as the Director of the Public Relations Office and Dean of the College of Asian Languages and Cultures. He served as a visiting professor at Universitas Indonesia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and he was a visiting fellow at The Habibie Center and University of Goethe, Frankfurt. He also served as editor-in-chief of the Indonesian edition of , a magazine published by the Korea Foundation.

Prof. Koh is interested in Indonesian literary criticism and cross-cultural studies. He has published books and translations such as 『Pramoedya Menggugat: Melacak Jejak Indonesia』 (Gramedia 2011), 『Java Postman's Road』 (HUFS Press, 2018), 『A Stranger Who Is Not Strange: The Life and Literature of Pramdedya』 (HUFS Press, 2024), 『Laut dan Kupu-Kupu』 (Gramedia 2007), and 『New York Bakery』 (Gramedia 2019). He has also worked on government projects related to smart learning and big data.
